This recipe requires 3 steps: making the caramel, making the candied walnuts and making the hummus. You do not want to leave out the walnuts because they are the perfect crunch that this hummus needs!

Tools needed:

-Sauce pan

-Blender or food processor

-Spatula

Ingredients:

-1 can drained chickpeas

-2 tbsp coconut sugar

-1 tsp vanilla extract

-1 tbsp nut butter (I used peanut)

-1 tbsp maple syrup

-2 tbsp water

-1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions:

For the caramel

1. Combine coconut sugar and water and heat in sauce pan over medium heat until a caramel consistency forms.

For the walnuts

1. Over medium heat, add walnuts and maple syrup and stir together until maple syrup begins to coat the walnuts and harden. About 5 minutes.

For the hummus

1. Combine chickpeas, vanilla, nut butter, and caramel in a blender or food processor until smooth, stopping to scrape down edges with spatula as necessary. Adjust for sweetness by adding maple syrup if needed.

2. Top with walnuts and enjoy!
