Sweet Potato Fries

These sweet potatoes are the best of both worlds because they’re delicious AND healthy! By air-frying instead of deep-frying, we are using much less oil. By air-frying instead of baking, they get much crispier! These fries are simple and guaranteed to please.

Benefits of sweet potatoes

There are so many amazing healthful properties of sweet potatoes! They are high in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber. The beta-carotene content is great for our skin, immune system and eye health. Luckily, they are delicious and easily incorporated into your diet!

If you don’t have an air-fryer, you can bake these instead. Preheat the oven to 380F and bake for 20 minutes, flipping halfway.

Ingredients: 4 servings

-1 lb sweet potatoes (about 6-8 small potatoes)

-1 tbsp olive oil

-½ tsp sea salt

-½ tsp paprika

-¼ tsp black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Clean potatoes well with water. Pat dry.

  2. Cut the potatoes into a ¼ inch width and desirable height. Make sure the cuts are even so they cook evenly.

  3. Place fries into a large bowl and cover with cold water. Soak for 45 minutes to an hour to remove some of the starch and crisp them up. Pat them dry (they don’t have to be perfectly dry)

  4. If your air-fryer has a temperature setting, preheat it to 380F.

  5. Drizzle the fries with olive oil. Then sprinkle seasonings on top. Mix together with your hands to evenly coat every fry.

  6. Put into the air-fryer being careful not to overload, I did this in 3 batches (my air-fryer is small). Fry for 20 minutes, opening up and tossing the fries once or twice. Test for doneness and fry for longer if necessary.

  7. When the fries are done you can sprinkle a little more salt on top (optional) and enjoy with your favorite dip!
